CHARACTER
Name: Marie Cure
Age: about 16 or 17
Canon: Afterschool Charisma
Canon Point: Her disappearance/death
History:
Marie is a cloned copy of the original Marie Curie who lived from 1867 – 1934. She, as well as almost all of the other student in St. Kleio Acadamy are the experament of Doctor Kamiya and Kuroe-san. At St. Kleio she is expected to learn and follow in the footsteps of her original. This belief is something that all of the teachers have drilled into the student’s brains since they were small.
Marie, however, does not wish to follow in her predecessor’s footsteps. She constantly questions why she has to do so and wishes to play music instead. In particular the piano. Having pestered Motzart over and over again to teach her how to play, the boy threw his sheet music at her and instructed her to teach herself. Marie was diligent in her efforts to teach herself how to play and finally became an amazing pianist, but only in secret. This success only fueled her desire to do something outside of what her original wanted to do. She’d proven to herself that she was good at the thing she loved most in the world. Now if only they would allow her to become a pianist instead.
Marie's desires kept her questioning why things were forced to be the way they were, why she had to follow in the footsteps of the original Marie Curie. Why she was born a clone and why must clones follow their originals. The only answer she was given from her superiors was that this was what had to happen. Marie never had the nerve to tell anyone of her desire to become a pianist. Instead she secretly practiced and played when no one was around, reveling in the beautiful sound of the piano. The wonderful and breathtaking music that was created at her fingertips.
One afternoon however, she was discovered in her playing by her classmate, Shiro Kamiya, the son of Doctor Kamiya and the only student who wasn’t a clone. Upon hearing her playing he was amazed at how good she was. During their conversation Marie explained her dilemma over what the school wanted and what she wanted. Shiro wanted to help her. Without consulting her, he asked his father if there was any way that Marie would be able to learn music.
Shortly after he questioned his father Marie was told by the higher ups that she was to transfer out of St. Kleio and attend a concervatory for music in Paris. Her original had family there that Marie would be staying with. This excited her to no end. She would be able to break from the mold of her original and do something different. She would be able to follow her dream to become a concert pianist. That night she excitedly packed her things and said her goodbyes to her roommate and best friend Florence Nightingale. The next morning when her friends came to see her off they were told that she was already gone.
(It was never said what happened to her exactly, but it is assumed that she was killed in order to make the Marie Cure clone that later appears in the manga.)
Personality:
Marie Cure is a very quiet and soft spoken girl. She's kind and caring toward everyone and would never want to make others worried or put them out in any way. She is the sort of young lady who is very obedient and wishes only to make others happy. While Marie’s greatest wish is to play the piano she would never want to disappoint anyone by doing what they didn’t want her to do. This is a strong motivator for her personality and her actions.
Even so, she doesn't want to follow what everyone tells her has to be her inevitable destiny. She wants to believe that there is more to a clone then simply following exactly what the original did. Marie has the same sense of individuality that all the clones seem to have, but hide from everyone else. She wants desperately to play the piano and not follow in the footsteps of her predecessor. She wants to know that it’s allowed and possible to break free from the mold that the teachers and other authority figures have set for them.
Marie isn't the sort of person who feels she is strong enough to fight fate however, she might verbally question authority and question the way that things have to be, but she will inevitably follow the rules and path that has been set out for her. While she may quietly break them to take the thing she loves as a hobby, she won’t break them outright.
Marie needs a push to help her move in any direction with decisiveness. Without that she'll simply follow what authority figures tell her to do. Inside this game I can see her going along with what the arcana tell her to do, even though it means losing her sense of self. If others encourage her to fight against it then she will fight, but unless that happens she will allow herself to be overtaken by the world that she's found herself in.
Abilities/Strengths: As far as we know from cannon Marie has no special abilities. She is simply a kind hearted and sweet girl. She's also a brilliant piano player.
Weaknesses: Marie is easily taken advantage of as well as easily swayed to follow the demands of others.
ARCANARUM

SAMPLES
First Person:
[There's a soft click followed by soft music, as Marie opens the compact with some trepidation. There’s a surprised ‘Oh!’ before she speaks. She wasn’t expecting any of that to happen when she opened the compact. The accidental visual that shows is a rather pretty young woman with her light brown hair pulled back in a very pretty braid and the start of what looks like a lovely medieval dress on her shoulders.]
Oh, well, that’s a lovely song, but, but where am I?
[Marie’s head turns to the side, looking around. When she speaks again her voice is louder. She’s clearly looking for someone else in the room.]
Is anyone there? [Her voice starts to quiver when no one answers. It's very worrying after all, being in a place you don't know or yet understand, being forced into clothing that you’ve never seen before. She turns around completely, hoping that somehow, someone will answer her.]
Third Person:
Marie awakened to find herself laying on a beautiful bed, her hair, normally set in twin buns was currently in a long braid down her back with soft tendrils framing her face. Her clothing, a change from her normal school uniform was a soft blue dress, belted at the waist with a thick brocade. Her shoes were missing.
As she rubbed the sleep from her eyes she looked around the room in confusion. No, this wasn’t where she had been told she would be. She was supposed to be in Paris with extended family of Marie Cure. She was supposed to be learning to play piano. This couldn’t be Paris, this couldn’t be where she was supposed to be. Teeth biting into her lower lip she looked around, trying to find something, anything that made sense. All she found was a small pink compact sitting on her bedside table. Reaching over she picked up the compact and carefully opened it. When she opened it a soft and beautiful tune played. She blinked in confusion before finally speaking.
